'No hunger for particular titles' - Anupam Kher praises Rohit Sharma after 'accidental' meeting
The interaction took place when Kher accidentally walked into the wrong vanity van while at a shoot location and came face to face with Rohit and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher shared a heartwarming picture of a surprising meeting with former India captain Rohit Sharma, describing the cricketer as a “cool dude” and “genuinely real”.
The interaction took place when Kher accidentally walked into the wrong vanity van while at a shooting location and came face to face with Rohit and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh. Kher took to his official Instagram handle to post photos of the unexpected encounter and explained how the mix-up turned into a memorable moment.
“ACCIDENTAL BUT A GREAT MEETING. Yesterday morning at shooting there were lots of vanity vans parked at the location. By mistake I was ushered into the wrong van. And who do I see? The GREATEST #RohitSharma! My favourite cricketer and his beautiful and hugely supportive wife #Ritika,” Kher wrote in a caption on his Instagram post.
What struck the actor most was Rohit’s genuine, down-to-earth nature away from the cricket field. In his caption, Kher highlighted the qualities of the legendary India opening batter that impressed him.
"I love Rohit! Of course for his brilliance as an amazing player. But I equally love the person in him. We have a habit of giving titles to our heroes (in films and sports) and rightfully so. They deserve it. But having watched Rohit, on and off field I can easily say that he is so so REAL! No pretence! No hunger for particular titles! I like his calmness. He laughs easily! Doesnt make an effort to make a myth about himself! Doesn’t change his persona in front of paps. Stays HIMSELF!! And that is the Greatest Quality of Cool Dude!,” he continued.
“Thank you my friend and Hero Rohit for your warmth and appreciation! May God give you both long and healthy life. Lots of love and prayers! Jai Ho!!,” the actor concluded.

Notably, the 38-year-old recently participated in the three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand. It was a disappointing series for him, as the batter could score only 61 runs in three innings. He has already announced his retirement from Test cricket and the T20Is and is next expected to be seen in action during the Indian Premier League 2026, where he is set to represent the Mumbai Indians.
