NZ vs IND: Talking Points
1. Indian pacers rail over the hosts
The pitch had good amount of movement and the batters could not be able to score runs freely. Indian pacer Auqib Nabi opened the wickets tally with two quick wickets and Anshul Kamboj jumped in to bring the third one. But, it was Gurnoor Brar who had a good support from the pitch and finished with the results of 4/30 in 10 overs.
2. Daryl Mitchell provides fighting knock
India's primary nemesis Daryl Mitchell could not be able to do his best in the first ODI after getting run out by a brilliant throw from Rohit Sharma. But, this time he took his moment and scored 55 runs and formed a 59-run partnership with Mitchell Santner.
3. Kyle Jamieson shows his true potential
With the pitch being offering heavily for the pacers, Kyle Jamieson made use of it pretty well. He used the good length with his height and troubled the Indian batters. He finished with figures of 3/35 in 10 overs dismissing Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer and Anshiul Kamboj. But, it was the rain gods who had the final word to say and awarded the win to the visitors.

Shubman Gill, India Captain
[On the difficult run-chase] As long as we get the win ... it wasn't easy out there. I think we bowled very well. Getting them around 130–140 was good. At one point, we thought it might be an easy target, but we kept losing wickets. We got over the line in the end. [On the bowlers stepping up] Gurnoor, even in the last match as well, has been bowling really well. Hopefully, as he plays more games and gets more experience, he'll become more consistent with his line and length. He's got the pace, he's got the bounce. It's all about how consistent he can be and we saw today the kind of quality he brings if he can keep bowling like this. [Message to the younger bowlers] Most of them have all the qualities that's needed. It's all about performing under pressure. International cricket is all about performing under pressure and getting that experience, bowling day in, day out and trying to deliver under pressure. That's the key point for us. [Areas to improve] Yeah, the pitch was definitely challenging. But I think we lost two extra (wickets) than we would have liked in the end. We knew the rain might come in at the end. And the last two shots that we played ... doesn't look well. If we would have lost this match by DLS, four or five runs, it would have definitely been a stinker for us. But happy to get over the line.
Mitchell Santner, New Zealand Captain
It was a tricky wicket. There's no hiding it. I think they bowled really well, especially at the top, challenged us, and obviously, wickets at the start are never ideal. But I think we were still probably a little bit under at the halfway stage, knowing that there was still a little bit in it, which was nice. And the boys bowled really well. [On the bowling performance] Like we said at Eden Park, it would have been easy for us to just go out there and expect things to happen. But we bowled really well. We started well, and I guess the only way to get into that target was to take wickets at the top. We managed to do that, and then I think the guys coming back in, spell after spell, managed to get the breakthroughs throughout, which is key in ODI cricket. [On him not bowling today] I warmed up for a little bit, but I think we got up. I think I got pulled, so I just said, "Yeah, you guys look like you're doing all right." It was one of those wickets where the seamers looked pretty challenging on. I know Axar bowled quite nicely, but the Indian quicks were in and around it as well, and they all bowled pretty well. [Lessons from the match] As a batting unit, we know it was going to be a tricky surface. But even if there was a potential way of scraping to 160 or 180, we could have gone from there. But yeah, I think they bowled well as well, and obviously, with the weather around, it's always going to be a bit tough to start, and they exploited it very well. [Update on Tickner] Yeah, he's back at the hotel, so hopefully he pulls up okay. But yeah, he's had a concussion recently, so it's one of those ones you want to give it some time.
Gurnoor Brar, Player of the Match
(If he liked bowling here in New Zealand) I really enjoyed it. Bowling here in New Zealand, the bounce and the pace really helped me, so I enjoyed it. (On the bowling plans) obviously, in India the pitches are quite flat, so we have to bowl that hard length. But here, there's that extra bounce. So I was just bowling to my strengths, and it worked. (On the bowling plan) if you're a fast bowler bowling at an average of 140 or 142 (kmph), you have to be aggressive as well. But you have to know your limits too. I just enjoy it and keep bowling. (On using the bouncer) I just try to bowl that hard length, the lengths where batters try to pull. I don't want to bowl it very high; I just keep bowling at shoulder level.
