The Match 38 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi was full of several heated moments on the field as both teams were seen having a go at each other. The intense game witnessed the first ever timed-out dismissal in the history of international cricket as Angelo Mathews fell victim of the peculiar dismissal in the first innings following an appeal from Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan.
Later in the second innings, the Sri Lankan all-rounder gave a befitting send-off to the Bangladesh captain after dismissing him in the 32nd over. On the first ball of the over, the southpaw failed to read the slower ball by Mathews and got a leading edge. The ball travelled in the air and was taken by Charith Asalanka at short mid-off bringing curtains on Shakib’s innings.
