The much-anticipated clash between Bangladesh (BAN) and Sri Lanka (SL) in the ICC World Cup 2023 is set to take place in Delhi on Monday, November 6. However, both teams are expressing concerns about playing in the Indian capital due to the severe air pollution levels. The smog in Delhi during winter has become a major issue, and it has led to previous objections from Sri Lanka regarding playing in the city.

The situation has escalated as Bangladesh cancelled their training session due to the worsening smog conditions. Sri Lanka have also voiced their apprehensions about competing in Delhi amidst the pollution problem. Despite these concerns, both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have confirmed that the match will proceed as scheduled, with no discussions about relocating it. Although there have been talks about moving the game to Lucknow, no official confirmation has been given yet.

Sri Lanka have had a dominant record against Bangladesh, defeating them in both the league stage and Super 4 of the Asia Cup 2023. In ODIs, Sri Lanka have 43 wins compared to Bangladesh's nine.

The Bangladesh versus Sri Lanka match is scheduled to start at 2 PM IST, but the air pollution concerns have cast a shadow over the game. The air quality in Delhi is unsafe, with the current Air Quality Index (AQI) at 350, making it highly advisable to avoid exposure to poor-quality air outdoors. The authorities and players face a challenging decision regarding the fate of the match due to these conditions.
