Hospital technology platform OYO on Friday, July 7, announced that it will add 500 new hotels in the upcoming three months in host cities of the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is slated to begin on October 5. Notably, hotels near Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad created a lot of buzz in recent times as multiple fans complained of tariffs being too high for the India versus Pakistan match on October 15. Following the same, a lot of hospital technology platforms were coming up with various new solutions, and OYO became the latest one to add to the value.
Meanwhile, travel demands see a massive surge during any marquee tournament, and the upcoming ODI World Cup is no different. Looking at a possible opportunity to strengthen their revenue, companies are showing interest, and thus OYO needs to act quickly to take advantage of the situation. Their spokesperson has already confirmed the new development and stated that their main agenda is to provide comfortable and affordable accommodation during the World Cup.
“OYO will add 500 hotels in host cities in the next three months to meet the demand for the Cricket World Cup. We want to ensure that everyone who is travelling from far away to watch their favourite teams has access to comfortable and affordable accommodation," the spokesperson told Economic Times.
Just like OYO, online travel service provider MakeMyTrip has also invited the fans for a comfortable stay during the tournament. The company also added a new feature that will reflect the distance of the accommodation from the cricket stadium in the city to help fans find the most suitable accommodation option.
“We have observed a significant surge in search of homestay properties for October and November in select cities across the country. This is a good sign and indicates that cricket fans are more willing than ever to explore homestays as an accommodation option,” MakeMyTrip Chief Business Officer Parikshit Choudhury said.
“A large proportion of homestay properties in cricket centres across October and November is still available for cricket lovers at an economical price,” he added.
