Pakistan don't have the batting depth, they don't have players like Suryakumar Yadav or Hardik Pandya: Nasser Hussain

Former England skipper Nasser Hussain has hit out at social media trolls by giving a detailed explanation of why he thinks India’s batting unit is better than that of Pakistan and what exactly made the difference for the two Asian sides in the recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2022 down under.

Meanwhile, Hussain had also said that there was no depth in Pakistan’s batting during the competition as they lacked solid middle order batters and power-hitters like Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav.

"Twitter was going ballistic saying 'how you go on about India and not Pakistan'. It's a completely different thing. Pakistan don't have the batting depth as we saw in the last few overs in the final. They don't have players like Suryakumar Yadav, or Hardik Pandya to come in and smash it," Hussain said on Sky Sports.

"Also, Pakistan have the best bowling line-up. So, if they get par, even less than par, they are still in the game. If India get par against England on a pitch like Adelaide, you are out of the game. One thing is for certain, India have players. The problem is not the players, it's the mindset. They need an Eoin Morgan-type character, who would say go in and smash it for 20 overs," he added.

Barring the semifinal against New Zealand and the game against South Africa, Pakistan’s batting remained inconsistent throughout the tournament with their batters only managing to showcase sporadic performances.

While the bowlers bowled their hearts out defending just 137 in the final at the MCG and gave England a run for their money, their batting was a letdown as there were no partnerships to keep the Three Lions under pressure.

Pakistan batted decently in the powerplay. Once skipper Babar Azam  was caught and bowled by leggie Adil Rashid in the middle overs, the Men in Green struggled to get going as the runs dried up.

Even though Shan Masood (38), and, Shadab Khan (20) tried their level best to keep the scoreboard ticking, none of the other batters were able to make it matter on the big day as a result of which Pakistan had to settle for a below par total which eventually cost them the world title.
