Prithvi Shaw's fiancée calls off engagement, cricketer deletes posts
Akriti Agarwal announced the separation on Instagram, citing different goals and circumstances, as Prithvi Shaw deleted nearly all his social media posts.
The engagement between India batter Prithvi Shaw and influencer-actor Akriti Agarwal has been called off, with the separation confirmed on September 17, 2026. The couple had gone public with their engagement in March 2026, meaning the relationship lasted less than six months before the split was announced.
Akriti shared the news through an Instagram note, describing the decision as mutual and attributing it to differing goals and life circumstances.
"With a heavy heart, I would like to share that my fiancé and I have decided to part ways due to different goals and circumstances for our future," she wrote on Instagram.
"As much as we love and care for each other, we have come to accept that our paths are not meant to be together. With our responsibilities and circumstances we are currently facing, we have mutually decided to go our separate ways. I genuinely wish nothing but the best, peace, and happiness for both of us as we move forward," She continued.
In the hours following the announcement, Akriti removed all engagement photographs and posts featuring Shaw from her Instagram profile. Shaw's own account was stripped down to a single post dating back to 2016, suggesting he cleared the bulk of his content shortly after the news became public. Shaw has not issued any statement on the matter.

What did Akriti Agarwal say about privacy and moving forward?
Beyond confirming the split, Akriti used her Instagram note to appeal directly to followers and the media for restraint.
"I kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this difficult time and refrain from speculating or making assumptions about the reasons behind our decision. Thank you for understanding and respecting our space," she added.
Separately, in what appeared to be an emotionally charged Instagram Story posted around the same time.
"Bappa, I promise that with this visarjan, I will let go of all my sorrow, pain and problems. And when you meet your Akriti next year, I promise you will see a completely different version of me — someone who will choose herself, keep herself as a priority and walk into the next chapter with a stronger heart."
The timing of the Story, coinciding with the Ganesh Visarjan period, added a personal dimension to her message, though Akriti did not elaborate further on her plans or circumstances beyond what she shared publicly.
Was there an earlier sign of trouble in the relationship?
Approximately two months before the formal announcement, around July 2026, Akriti had posted a cryptic note on Instagram that attracted considerable attention at the time. The post appeared to reference cheating and circulating rumours connected to Shaw, though neither party issued any clarification following its publication.
In that earlier post, she wrote: "I got cheated so many times, yet I never said a word. Still can’t believe that after taking one step ahead… Everything is true every rumour is true. What you see on social media about him."
