Right after losing to Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), Karachi Kings' President, Wasim Akram was spotted losing his calm, kicking a sofa which was placed right in front of the former cricketer. The moment was captured on live television and took no time to go viral across various social media platforms.
Following this incident, former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Ramiz Raja, criticised Akram for his behaviour in the dressing room and stated that he should back his team rather than being frustrated following a loss. He also mentioned that the former cricketer should keep a cool head as the same is expected from a person of his stature.
“See, I've been the chairman of PCB. I know (if I were still there) I couldn't do anything from sitting outside. When you have selected a team, you have to back them. And then, you have to keep a cool mind and analyse the performance.
This is pure frustration. This doesn't look good. If you can't control your temperament, which is the most important thing in your position, it isn't good for public view,” Ramiz said on BOL Network.
Multan Sultans defeated Karachi Kings by three runs
Notably, in the match, Multan Sultans emerged victorious as they have won the match by just three runs. Batting first, the 2021 champions posted 196 runs on board as skipper Mohammad Rizwan led by example. The 30-year-old smashed 110* off 64 deliveries while his opening partner Shan Masood scored 51 off 33 balls.
Chasing a massive total, Karachi got a great start as opener James Vince was phenomenal, scoring 75 off 34 deliveries. However, soon after his dismissal, Karachi lost momentum and ended up on the losing side. Skipper Imad Wasim (46* off 26 deliveries) tried to rescue his team at the fag end of the match but failed to do so as Karachi now lost four out of their last five games.
Following the defeat, Karachi are now fourth on the points table while Multan Sultans are leading the charts.
