Ramiz Raja gives huge update on Imran Khan's health amid detention concerns

Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja has provided an update on the health and condition of Imran Khan, the former Pakistan captain who has been in detention. Raja spoke about Khan's current situation during a recent appearance on a YouTube show, offering insights into how the ex-captain is managing during his time away from public life.

During the episode of The Overlap Cricket's Stick to Cricket, Alastair Cook asked Raja whether Imran Khan was physically okay. This question came just one day after 22 former international cricket captains had appealed to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for better treatment and medical care for Khan.

"He is in isolation. He's got a lot of fans, but it's just that the poor guy has been behind bars for three years now. It's been a tough one for him," Raja said.

Recent eye problem resolved, says Raja

Raja also addressed recent health concerns that had surfaced regarding Khan. The former Pakistan captain had faced an eye-related problem approximately one week before Raja's comments, but according to Raja, that issue had since been resolved.

"Just a week back, there was some problem with his eye that seems to have been sorted, but otherwise, he's holding up. I mean, he's got a solid temperament, as we all know," Raja added.

Raja's comments reflected the broader international attention on Khan's well-being during his detention.

The 22 former cricket captains who signed the appeal included notable figures such as Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar, Steve Waugh, Adam Gilchrist, Nasser Hussain, Andrew Strauss, Michael Atherton, Alastair Cook, Greg Chappell, Ian Chappell, Michael Brearley, Michael Gatting, David Gower, Clive Lloyd, Allan Border, Arjuna Ranatunga, Lee Germon, Kim Hughes, Belinda Clark, Alex Blackwell and John Wright. Their collective appeal underscored concerns about Khan's treatment and access to proper medical care.

Earlier in August, Pakistan's Supreme Court had ordered that Khan be transferred to hospital for examination by a medical board that was to include his own personal physicians and his sister, Dr Uzma Khan. The Court also reinstated weekly family visits.

However, Khan's hospital stay lasted only a few hours. He was examined by a state-appointed team rather than the board the Court had directed, declared medically fit, and returned to Adiala Jail before that board could complete its work.
