Virat Kohli is part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise since its inception in 2008. The legendary batter played 234 matches in the IPL so far, scoring 7044 runs in the process. He also helped the team qualify for the finals of the competition on three different occasions but could never take his team home. Despite that, Kohli never planned to leave RCB and play for any other team.
Speaking about his 15-year association, the Delhi-born cricketer mentioned that his relationship with RCB is based on trust from both ends. The 34-year-old went on to add that he is fortunate to represent the team from day one and feels a strong connection with the fans.
“I feel really fortunate to have played for one franchise from day one. It’s been a constant relationship based on trust from both ends that we are working for the same thing and the value that I have seen fans connecting with me very organically is because of the fact that we play the game for the right reasons,” Kohli was quoted as saying by News18.
“I am really honoured and fortunate to be here for so long, in a place where I absolutely love coming to every year and start the IPL journey all over again. So, it’s always very exciting,” the former RCB skipper added.
Meanwhile, coming to the ongoing season, the elegant batter has scored 420 runs in 11 matches and is currently fifth in the IPL Orange Cap race. However, with RCB currently out of the top four, Kohli will have to get better along with his teammates in order to win the remaining three matches and make it to the top four. Next up, the Faf du Plessis-led side will take on Rajasthan Royals on May 15, followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 18 andGujarat Titans on May 21 in their final league game.
