Reports: Cricket Australia planning special farewell for Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli during India’s tour in 2025
"This might be the last time that we get to see Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma play in our," Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Todd Greenberg said as per IANS.
Cricket Australia (CA) is planning to give Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma fitting farewells when India goes Down Under later this year to play white-ball matches against the Men in Yellow.
India are set to play three ODIs and as many T20Is in October-November. Kohli and Rohit have retired after helping India win the T20 World Cup last year. Midway through the IPL, they decided to draw curtains on their illustrious Test careers. Now, the two legendary batters are going to don the India jersey only in the ODI format.
Both Rohit and Kohli are expected to continue in the 50-over format at least till the ODI World Cup in 2027. While Rohit recently expressed his interest in representing India in the marquee event, Kohli, who averages an astounding 57.88 in ODI cricket, is expected to follow suit.
Todd Greenberg, CEO of CA, opined in a recent interview that Kohli and Rohit might be playing in Australia for the last time in October during the ODI series. He mentioned CA's willingness to give the iconic duo a proper send-off to acknowledge their remarkable contributions to international cricket.
“This might be the last time that we get to see Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma play in our country. And if that is the case, who knows, it might not be, but if it is, we wanna make sure we give them a great send-off and a reflection of the incredible contribution they’ve made to international cricket,” Todd Greenberg said as per IANS.

Rohit and Kohli could be seen in action during India's tour of Bangladesh in August. India are set to play three ODIs on August 17, 20, and 23.
The Men in Blue will look for revenge as they haven't been able to beat Bangladesh in their backyard in their last two ODI series. In 2015 and 2022, India lost by 1-2 margins. The ODI series will be followed by three T20Is on August 26, 29, and 31.
