There appears to be significant changes at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as former cricketer Aminul Islam Bulbul is set to take over as the board's president, replacing Faruque Ahmed, whose tenure has been marred by numerous controversies and allegations. Bulbul shared that he was offered the role by the Sports Ministry and has replied positively.

It is believed that Bulbul is currently working with the International Cricket Council (ICC) on a contractual basis, and he will be elected as the director of the board first and then assume the role of president. The former Bangladesh skipper has said that the role was offered to him a few days ago, and he is unaware of the process of taking over. Bulbul also revealed his talks with the ICC.

“I was offered a role a few days ago. I've been asked to come in. I don't know yet what the process will be. Yes (the Sports Council has also made a proposal). Before agreeing to their proposal, there was the issue of talking to the ICC, where I work. I said the ICC has no objection. I will come for a short time, then maybe I will go back to the ICC," the first Test centurion of the country said as quoted by The Daily Star.

The Faruque Ahmed controversies

Speaking of the controversies surrounding the current president, Faruque Ahmed, there have been serious allegations against him. Some of them include mismanagement of domestic tournaments and financial irregularities. The performance of the national team has not helped his cause as well, as the team is currently ranked ninth in Tests and T20Is, and tenth in ODIs. All these have led to reports that Faruque might either resign or be ousted from his role as president.
