With the Asia Cup 2025 just around the corner, team India's star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has reportedly checked into the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for a fitness test. Scheduled for August 11 and 12, this assessment will play an important role in determining his fitness for the continental event, set to begin on September 9.

Pandya has been a crucial asset in India’s white-ball setup, especially after his contributions to India’s T20 World Cup 2025 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 win earlier this year. Following the conclusion of IPL 2025, the Mumbai Indians captain took a short break before resuming training in Mumbai from mid-July.

According to a Times of India report, Pandya will undergo fitness assessments at the NCA, where multiple other Indian players have either already completed their tests or are in line to do so before the tournament.

The 31-year-old's return to peak fitness is currently a priority for the Indian team management. His last appearance for the Men in Blue came during the Champions Trophy, where he delivered solid performances with both bat and ball. The upcoming fitness evaluation in Bengaluru will involve physical conditioning checks, strength tests, and match-ready assessments under the supervision of the BCCI’s medical and physiotherapy team.

Suryakumar Yadav extends time at NCA

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer completed his fitness test between July 27 and 29 and is being considered for a potential comeback. The right-hander, who last played a T20I in December 2023, had an impressive IPL 2025 season, leading Punjab Kings to the final. Notably, Iyer was out of contention for the England Test series, but is eying a T20I recall.

Furthermore, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is also working on getting back to full fitness after sports hernia surgery in June. Spending additional time at the NCA, he is looking to be fully ready for the Asia Cup. Notably, the selectors are expected to announce a preliminary squad soon.
