England fast bowler Josh Tongue is looking to move from Worcestershire to Nottinghamshire in the County Championship next season. The 25-year-old has been impressive in the two Tests he has played in his career so far. Being an international fast bowler, Tongue is among the most sought-after out-of-contract players on the county circuit this season.

Lancashire was also in the race to sign England’s latest young sensation. However, according to reports, Tongue is in line to move to Trent Bridge, and negotiations are entering their final stage, including a medical. He’s being seen as a long-term successor to Stuart Broad in Nottinghamshire, who has hinted at his retirement after the ongoing Ashes 2023.

Tongue is among several homegrown out-of-contract players who will part ways with Worcestershire at the end of the season. The club is ready for the departure of Tongue, a local player who has been at the club for almost two decades and rose through their system.

Pat Brown looks set to join Derbyshire, while Dillon Pennington has also held talks with other clubs, including Nottinghamshire. The young England Lions batsman Jack Haynes is also attracting interest.

Tongue got David Warner and Steven Smith twice in Lord's Test

Meanwhile, in the second Test of the Ashes 2023 at Lord’s Tongue looked the most effective England bowler as he registered figures of 5/151 across the two innings of the Test. He bowled a magnificent inswinger from around the wicket on Day 1 to dismiss David Warner (66), who looked set for a big score. He further had Warner’s number in the second innings as well and got him out lbw.

Tongue also managed to get the big scalp of Steven Smith in both innings of the Test. In the first innings, he got him out on 110 and later got him out on the short ball in the second innings. The 25-year-old will be eager to replicate his performance in the third Test beginning on Thursday, July 06 at Headingley, Leeds.
