Reports: Indian team to undergo fitness camp at CoE before Asia Cup 2025
Asia Cup 2025 will run from September 09 to 28.
With the Asia Cup 2025 set to get underway on September 9 in the UAE, the Indian cricket team is expected to leave no stone unturned in its preparation. The Men in Blue will reportedly undergo a fitness and training camp at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru before flying out for the tournament. Notably, ahead of the Asia Cup 2023, India had organized a two-week conditioning camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to sharpen their fitness and skills ahead of the competition.
The Asia Cup will be played from September 9 to 28 across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, India are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Oman, and hosts UAE. Their campaign begins on September 10 against the UAE, followed by the much-anticipated clash against Pakistan on September 14.
Ahead of the squad announcement, several players, including Ishan Kishan, Riyan Parag, Hardik Pandya, Abhishek Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer, had reported to the CoE for fitness assessments. India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who recently recovered from a sports hernia surgery, also cleared his fitness test at the facility. These individual check-ins will further move into a full-squad preparation camp.
The camp at Bengaluru’s CoE will be crucial for workload management and injury prevention, especially given India’s packed calendar. The Asia Cup will be followed by a white-ball series against Australia, another assignment against South Africa, and then the build-up to the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Notably, the senior men's selection committee announced a 15-member squad for the tournament on Tuesday. The squad features Suryakumar Yadav wearing the captain's hat, with Shubman Gill to serve as his deputy. The squad boasts a mix of youth and experienced players who are expected to defend the title.
