The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing for the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While the 2022 season witnessed the teams changing a lot thanks to the mega auction, the fans will get to see a mini auction taking place. And if the reports are to be believed, BCCI is planning to stage the auction this year on December 16.

Along with it, even the purse which was INR 90 crore in the mega auction will be increased further to INR 95 crore. According to the reports in Times of India, a reliable source has confirmed that the mini auction will take place on December 16 in Bengaluru.

Home and away format to be back in IPL 2023

Meanwhile, the next edition of the IPL is set to be back in the home and away format. The last three seasons were affected due to COVID-19 virus. The 2020 edition was entirely shifted to the UAE while the caravan had to be stopped midway due to breaches in the bubble. The second half of the competition was then again played in the UAE.

IPL 2022 was played only across four venues in Mumbai and Pune again due to a possible third wave of COVID in the country. However, normalcy will return in 2023 in IPL in the home and away format with each team likely to play 18 matches in the league stage. The outgoing BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had also confirmed the same recently.

"The next season of IPL will go back to the home and away format with all the 10 teams playing their home matches at their designated venues," Ganguly had said. Gujarat Titans, led by Hardik Pandya, are the defending champions having won the coveted trophy in their debut season itself.
