Indian pacer, Prasidh Krishna, has been sidelined from competitive cricket for six months now and as per reports, he needs more time to recover completely. Notably, the 26-year-old, suffered a stress fracture and if not recovered quickly enough, he can eventually miss his chance to feature in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

The cricketer last played for India during their tour to Zimbabwe in August 2022 and since then, he has been in rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. Now, in his absence, Mohammed Siraj has done remarkably well and following his impressive performances, the Hyderbad-born cricketer has climbed up the ladder and become the number-one ranked ODI bowler in the world. Thus, even if Krishna recovers on time, it now might be difficult for him to get into playing XI straightaway.

Meanwhile, a BCCI official has confirmed Prasidh’s state of injury and mentioned that the cricketer is still not fit to return and it’s difficult to predict when he will.

“Prasidh has a stress fracture and in case of this particular form of injury, you cannot put a date on a prospective comeback. Every player has a different body type and recovery process and time would be different. It could be anything between six months to one year. In case of Prasidh, he is still not fit enough to return to play and it is unfortunate that he missed the entire domestic season,” a BCCI official said as quoted by India Today.

Krishna running out of time for World Cup

As per reports, if Krishna needs to make it to the World Cup squad, he needs to make his return as soon as possible. The pacer missed the entire domestic season and it’s only in IPL where he can test his skill and once again get back into the Indian squad.

However, that seems to be unlikely at the moment. The Karnataka-born pacer has been a part of intense rehabilitation but things are not looking good at the moment. Thus, his availability in the upcoming IPL is uncertain as well.
