Rohit Sharma is a difficult batter to bowl against: Shaheen Afridi

The ODI World Cup 2023 gears up for one of its most anticipated clashes as India and Pakistan are all set to take centre stage at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14. 

As the clash approaches, there will be many battles to look forward to as India and Pakistan take each other on. Namely, the clash between Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and ace Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi has been one that has been talked about for quite some time now. 

Speaking of the same, Shaheen Afridi came forward to heap praise on the Indian skipper and opined that he is one of the most difficult batters to bowl against. Afridi also opined that dismissing Rohit early into the game could be a good way to put pressure on the Indian side.

"Rohit Sharma has scored a ton of runs for India, and he is a difficult batter to bowl against. If you dismiss the captain early, the players who follow come under a lot of pressure," Afridi said in a video shared by Star Sports.

"He is the main player, and the idea will be to dismiss him and put the team under pressure," he added.

Both India and Pakistan look to continue winning streak

As the clash between India and Pakistan looms around the corner, both sides will be keen on putting in a good performance against their arch-rivals. India has played two games in the competition so far, where the side has taken on Australia and Afghanistan.

Notably, the Rohit Sharma-led side put in a sensational performance against both their opponents and is currently unbeaten in the competition. On the other hand, Pakistan has faced the Netherlands and Sri Lanka and has won both games as well. In a rivalry for the ages, it could be interesting to see which side gets handed its first loss of the ODI World Cup 2023.
