The final of the inaugural edition of the SA20 has been postponed to February 12 due to a waterlogged pitch at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The match was initially scheduled to be played on February 11. The Pretoria Capitals and the Sunrisers Eastern Cape have qualified for the inaugural final.

The match officials took the decision to call off the final; the primary reason being due to heavy rain and inclement weather, the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg still remains waterlogged. The Weather has been very bad in South Africa for the past three days, with incessant rains and thunder-showers close to 200ml of rainfall.

"The ground preparation for the match has been compromised, with the pitch remaining under covers for three days and over 200ml of rain falling since Wednesday this week. The SA Weather Service has predicted more showers for the remainder of Saturday, with a clearer outlook predicted for Sunday," stated the media release from SA20.

The SA20 League Commissioner and former South Africa captain Graeme Smith in a statement, said that all the precautionary and necessary steps has been taken to ensure the final is definitely played on the 'Reserve Day' and to end the inaugural SA20 on a successful note.

“We’ve engaged the match officials, teams, groundsman, stakeholders and the SA Weather Service, and postponing the match is the best decision to allow for the possibility of a full match in drier conditions. We want to give the teams and spectators a memorable final.”
