Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has categorically denied being in contention for the presidency of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). His team issued a statement firmly dismissing the speculations that the former batter was set to take over as the board’s next president.

While Tendulkar himself was not available for comment, his team requested the media to refrain from making such claims. The clarification was issued by SRT Sports Management Pvt. Ltd.

"It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumours have been circulating regarding Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). We wish to categorically state that no such development has taken place. We urge all concerned to refrain from giving credence to unfounded speculations," the official statement read as quoted by Cricbuzz.

The BCCI elections are scheduled for September 28, with voting to be held for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer. It is likely that the incumbent secretary Devajit Saikia, joint secretary Rohan Gauns Dessai, and treasurer Prabhtej Singh Bhati will retain their positions.

The major focus remains on the roles of president and vice-president, along with the position of chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Current vice-president Rajeev Shukla is expected to continue in some capacity within the BCCI setup.

Roger Binny, who was elected president in October 2022 after replacing Sourav Ganguly, oversaw a successful tenure during which India won the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. He also played a key role in introducing the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Binny stepped down after turning 70, in accordance with the BCCI constitution.

The final date for state associations to submit the names of their representatives for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) IS September 12 . The list is expected to provide early indications of candidates for the top posts.
