'Saw videos of Chahal and Warne' - Virat Kohli’s nephew Aryaveer on taking up leg spinner
Aryaveer, son of Virat’s elder brother Vikas Kohli, has not yet represented Delhi at age-group levels.
Aryaveer, Virat Kohli’s nephew, recently shared why he took up leg-spin rather than following in his famous uncle’s batting footsteps. The spinner, picked up for INR 1 lakh by South Delhi Superstarz in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 season, has already grabbed attention.
Aryaveer, son of Virat’s elder brother Vikas Kohli, has not yet represented Delhi at age-group levels, but he has trained under his uncle's long-time coach Rajkumar Sharma at the West Delhi Cricket Academy. The youngster revealed he chose leg-spin after watching videos of Yuzvendra Chahal and Shane Warne.
"I used to bowl right from the start. I liked leg-spin and started doing that. I saw a lot of videos of Yuzvendra Chahal and Shane Warne. That's how I became a leg-spinner," he said as quoted by NDTV.

He’s a nice boy, training really hard: Sarandeep Singh
Despite being picked by the South Delhi-based team, the leggie didn't feature in any of the games. However, South Delhi Superstarz’s head coach, Sarandeep Singh, praised Kohli's discipline and work ethic.
“I’m working with Aryaveer, but I don’t think about his surname. He’s a nice boy, training really hard in the nets and trying to give his best all the time. In fact, he comes to training early. So, I think that gene has been inherited. But as of now, he is very young but focused on his game. Whenever his time comes, he will definitely perform well and do his best. I will definitely try to give my best," Sarandeep Singh told as quoted by CNN-News18.
Meanwhile, during the season, the 15-year-old spoke about the team atmosphere and his preparations for the second season of DPL.
“The atmosphere in the dressing room is very chill. The preparations are going well. Sarandeep sir has been helping me a lot from the first day itself to improve my bowling. I don’t think much about it. I mean, I have come to play, and that is what I think about. There is a lot of excitement. It is a big platform. It will be fun," Aryaveer added.
