What happened the last time India toured Zimbabwe?

For the record, the Men in Blue last travelled to face the Chevrons away right after their T20 World Cup triumph in 2024. It also marked the first time that Shubman Gill was leading an Indian team, as he was named the skipper for the series. While the hosts had won the opening encounter by 13 runs, the Indians made a brilliant comeback and won all the matches thereafter to complete an emphatic 4-1 series win.

The series is also remembered for the debut of attacking opening batter Abhishek Sharma. The Punjab all-rounder had scored a 4-ball duck on his T20I debut but came back brilliantly in his second outing to smash 100 off just 47 balls. Since then, Abhishek has been a vital cog in India's T20I setup and is currently ranked the No. 1 batter in the shortest format of the game in the ICC Rankings.

Abhishek, however, found it difficult to middling the ball during the recent T20 World Cup 2026, despite other Indian batters enjoying a successful campaign. With the upcoming Zimbabwe tour, the ravishing left-handed batter will look to regain his lost form in international cricket.
