'Shadi kab karwa rahe ho?' - Kolkata fan asks Shubman Gill's father to get India captain married
Shubman is leading India in his eighth Test match as captain.
The Eden Gardens in Kolkata is not only one of the oldest cricketing venues in India, but also has the reputation of having the most knowledgeable cricket crowd. However, the first Test between India and South Africa at the venue has seen a fan posing an unusual ask toward Shubman Gill's father Lakhwinder Singh, a fellow spectator at the ground. The fan asked when is Lakhwinder getting his son married.
The fan started by greeting Lakhwinder Singh, who was sitting close by with a little kid. The fan was then heard asking when is he getting his son Shubman Gill married. The father replied that the decision lies solely on Shubman, indicating that there is no pressure from his side. The fan followed it up with a question of whether Shubman will get married to Sara [Tendulkar], the alleged girlfriend of the India Test captain.
Uncle Ji, Gill bhai ka shadi kab karwa rahe ho? [Hello uncle, when are you getting our Shubman brother married?] Sara madam se karwa rahe ho ki nahi [Are you getting her married to Sara or not?], the fan said and posted a clip of the same on the internet, which has now gone viral.

Earlier on the opening day of the match, Gill, who is leading India in his eighth Test match as captain, failed to get a toss result in his favour. He has now lost eight tosses on the bounce, also a record for a first-time captain. However, Gill took the matter lightheartedly and said that the World Test Championship final in 2027 might well be the first-ever toss that he wins in his career as India captain.
"I think the only toss that I'm going to win is hopefully in the WTC finals. Yeah. Looks like a good surface. Hopefully, we'll get some movement early, hopefully we're able to extract that. Dressing room is pretty amazing. This Test bunch is very hungry and is always determined to perform every time we come out," Gill said at the toss.
