KCA suspends Sreesanth over Sanju Samson remarks
KCA suspended S Sreesanth for three years due to his Sanju Samson controversy.
The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has suspended S. Sreesanth for three years due to his comments against the board regarding Sanju Samson's exclusion from the Champions Trophy 2025 squad. A special general body meeting took place on 30 April in Kochi, where a major decision was made concerning the former Indian cricketer.
Following Samson’s exclusion from India’s squad for the CT 2025, it was alleged that his absence from the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Kerala was the reason behind his omission from the major tournament. Sreesanth reacted to this and accused the KCA of not including Samson in Kerala’s squad. His remarks were met with action by the state's cricket board.
"Since the franchise teams gave satisfactory responses to the notices, no further action will be taken against them. However, the meeting decided to advise greater caution when appointing members to team management," the KCA said in their statement as reported by Onmanorama.
The KCA addressed the 2011 ODI World Cup winner’s comments and served him a notice for tarnishing their image with his statements in the media. It remains to be seen what will happen to the Kollam Aries Sailors, a franchise in the Kerala Cricket League, which is conducted annually by the KCA.

Notably, the KCA issued show-cause notices to the franchise owners of the Kerala Cricket League following Sreesanth’s remarks. The former Indian pacer was relieved as the franchises submitted satisfactory responses, and the league did not feel the need to take further action against Kollam Aries Sailors.

The KCA also advised team owners in the league to exercise caution while including players in team management. In addition to addressing Sreesanth’s comments, another key issue was discussed in the KCA’s recent meeting. The board decided to take legal action against those who had accused them of excluding Samson from Kerala’s Vijay Hazare Trophy squad.
Sanju Samson’s father, Samson Viswanath, along with Regi Lukose and a presenter from the TV channel News 24x7, made allegations against the KCA. In the meeting, the KCA resolved to file a compensation suit against them for attempting to tarnish the association’s image.
