Team India registered a comprehensive victory against Zimbabwe by 71 runs in their final Super 12 stage outing of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Sensational knocks from opener KL Rahul and flamboyant batter Suryakumar Yadav guided the team to put a mammoth total of 186 runs on the board.
In response to the massive total, Zimbabwe were thoroughly humbled by the Indian bowlers, thereby handing the two points and a ticket for the semi-final clash. The form maintained by team India players has been terrific and Suryakumar Yadav is certainly one.
Former India international, Virender Sehwag, who himself was an aggressive batter during his prime days, lauded the batter’s swashbuckling knock against the African nation.
"Wherever he wants to direct his shot, even if it's not the right ball for that, he will make it reach there. He can guide an off stump wide over the wicketkeeper to fine leg for a six. Such shots are next to impossible. But it's Suryakumar, so it's possible. If he wants to smack it to the covers, it's Suryakumar, so it's possible. If it needs to be launched over the bowler, it's Suryakumar, so it's possible,” said an elated Sehwag.
Meanwhile, India are just one game away from playing the finals and get close to the coveted title. However, the Men in Blue will face a tricky opponent in England, a team that has been sublime with the ball and lethal with the bat.
Whereas, India too have been lethal in their own ways and assuming if the lads fire all cylinders against the Three Lions, they can make life harder for the latter. Rohit Sharma and Co. will look to maintain the sensational form they have displayed in the competition so far. The game is scheduled to be played on Thursday, November 10 at the Adelaide Oval.
