Hampshire have secured the services of Chris Lynn for the remainder of their group-stage matches of the ongoing edition of the T20 Blast. Hampshire have six South Group matches left this campaign, and the inclusion of Lynn promises to be an exciting prospect.
Lynn, who last featured for Adelaide Strikers in the 2024-25 Big Bash League, arrives after the South African pair of Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Dewald Brevis were called up by South Africa for the Zimbabwe Tri-series 2025.
Lynn, who used to play for Gosport Borough as a teenager, was excited to get started with his stint with Hampshire.
"It's great to return to Hampshire, this time as a pro. I had a brilliant time playing club cricket in the county a while ago now. The Hawks are a hugely successful side and hopefully I can play a big part in the second-half of the Blast to take the team to Finals Day," stated Lynn, as quoted by BBC.
The 35-year-old top-order batter has played in the Blast in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Representing Northamptonshire, he registered 880 runs in 23 innings at an impressive strike rate of 146.91 with five half-centuries and three centuries.
Lynn has been quite active in the domestic franchise scene after playing his last ODI and T20I games for Australia in late 2018. He is a seasoned cricketer in the 20-over format. An aggressive top-order batter of the caliber of Lynn would be a great inclusion for Hampshire.
After eight games, Hampshire have won thrice and lost four matches. Their match against Middlesex was tied after Middlesex drew level via the DLS method. They have lost four out of their five previous games and would be aiming to pick up their form with Lynn integrating into the structure.
