Team India registered their third win in the Super 12 stage of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 as they emerged victorious against Bangladesh by 5 runs (DLS). Fifties from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul handed the side a competitive total and then the bowlers got the job done.
Having played just four matches in the tournament, Kohli already boasts a total of 220 runs under his belt and is the highest run-getter in the marquee tournament thus far. Following the 44-ball 64* against the Bangla Tigers, the flamboyant batter achieved a major feat as he surpassed Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene's run tally in the tournament. Kohli now has 1065 runs in 23 innings in T20 World Cups as compared to Jayawardene, who scored 1016 runs from 31 innings.

Bollywood actress and wife of the player, Anushka Sharma was elated with the feat achieved by Kohli in the showpiece event. An overjoyed Anushka took to her Instagram stories to post three screenshots on Kohli’s achievement.
India close to cementing semi-finals berth
While Kohli has scored really well in three out of his four outings for the side in the Super 12 stage, others in the squad are picking up their form as well. Following the win against Shakib Al Hasan’s Bangladesh, the Men in Blue are one step away from confirming their spot in the last four.
India play an impressive Zimbabwe side at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground for what will be their final outing in the Super 12 stage. Rohit Sharma and co. still have some departments to improve as the skipper Rohit Sharma himself will need to keep up with the bat and display consistency. The tournament will heat up as it progresses.
