Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has responded to Jasprit Bumrah after the latter had a back-and-forth with Kaif on social media platform X. Bumrah had recently labelled Kaif’s remarks on his fitness as ‘inaccurate’.

In a rather concise reply, Kaif conceded that his earlier remarks on Bumrah's fitness and bowling patterns were merely a "cricketing observation from a well-wisher and an admirer". He concluded by labelling Bumrah as Indian cricket's "biggest match-winner".

Please take this as a cricketing observation from a well-wisher and an admirer. You are Indian cricket's biggest match-winner and I know what it takes to give it all when on field wearing India colours. x.com/jaspritbumrah9…

For the unversed, Kaif had highlighted that Bumrah, who used two spells of two overs each in the powerplay and death in the T20Is under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, has stopped doing that under Suryakumar Yadav. The 44-year-old stated that Bumrah has been bowling three overs in the powerplay when his body is warmed up. Bumrah did not take the assessment well, responding: "Inaccurate before inaccurate again".

Bumrah is currently part of India's Asia Cup 2025 squad. Ahead of the Sri Lanka clash on September 26, he has played in four out of the five matches the Men in Blue have featured in. Barring the Super Four encounter against Pakistan (0/45 in 4 overs), Bumrah has displayed remarkable performances with the ball.

He has also been selected in India's squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies at home. Questions still loom over whether he will take part in both matches, especially since there are only three days between the Asia Cup 2025 final (September 28) in UAE and the start of the first Test in Ahmedabad (October 2).
