Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had an unforgettable campaign in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, clinching the title for the record-equalling fifth time. As CSK heads into the 2024 IPL to defend the title, their bowling coach Dwayne Bravo spoke about the franchise's beauty and how they keep aside the outside interference.

Bravo stated that CSK owners allow the players to exhibit their own game and added that it is the beauty of the franchise. Undoubtedly, CSK are one of the most consistent teams in the lucrative league since the inception of the tournament, making the most appearances in the knockout stage in addition to winning the title five times.

"There is no outside interference or pressure from owners, and they allow the players to be themselves. This is the beauty of this franchise," Bravo was quoted as saying by Mid Day.

"It's good. We have a very good squad. We want to continue from where we left off last season. We did some really great things with a very young bowling attack," he said about the team composition.

Bravo went on to say that CSK are bolstered by a good bowling attack with the likes of Shardul Thakur, Mustafizur Rahman, Matheesha Pathirana, and Tushar Deshpande. Notably, CSK will begin their campaign, hosting the curtain raiser of the 2024 IPL on March 22 against three-time finalists Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

"This year, we get back Shardul (Thakur), which is a bonus. Fizz (Mustafizur Rahman) is also experienced and has quality. Matheesha Pathirana, we call him baby Malinga. Tushar Deshpande, who had a good last season. It feels good to work with these guys, and looking forward to the upcoming season," Bravo added.

The former CSK pacer also stated that he is excited to watch out for new India players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Verma in the forthcoming tournament. Bravo, one of the leading wicket-takers in the history of IPL, further threw his support for opener Ruturaj Gaikwad to turn out well.

"Jaiswal, he is an exciting talent and someone to always keep an eye out for. Tilak Verma is also another exciting talent I intend to look up to. Gaikwad, for sure. He's one of my favourites," the 40-year-old said..
