Former Pakistan captain seamer Wasim Akram felt that Bangladesh needs to ensure that their celebrations are under control ahead of the upcoming fixture against India in the T20 World Cup 2022. Bangladesh has been spotted with exaggerated celebrations on numerous occasions in the past and their ‘Naagin dance’ did go around as a talking point for a long time among the cricketing fraternity.
Also, the India-Bangladesh game in the 2016 T20 World Cup was a testimony of how Bangladesh have panned out in terms of celebration. They went on to celebrate with just two runs needed off three balls and ended up losing the game on account of brilliant work by MS Dhoni.
The 2015 World Cup was no different as Rubel Hossain’s celebration after picking up the big wicket of Virat Kohli in a way shadowed the struggles of Bangladesh. Speaking on that, Akram has come up with important advice for the Bangladesh side who have produced some competitive performances.
I like the way Bangladesh cricket are passionate: Wasim Akram
Akram revealed his liking for Bangladesh cricket and the passion among the fans in the country for the game. He went on to note that he would advise the youngsters in the Bangladesh team to keep hold of their excitement and added that their celebrations have gone outrageous at times.
“I like Bangladesh cricket. I like the way they are passionate and how cricket is all over their country. But if I am with their team, I will advise the youngsters that okay, you get excited, but in control," Akram told while speaking on A Sports.
"I have seen quite a few teams when they are new on the big stage, they celebrate in such a way that they aren't going to get to celebrate ever again. So enjoy your success, but don't go overboard," he added.
