Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal's batting performances in the recent five-match Test series between England and India. Jaiswal scored 411 runs in 10 innings in his first red-ball series in England.

The legendary India cricketer was impressed with the Uttar Pradesh-born's ability to perceive situations dynamically and react with the bat accordingly, which was up on display during the fifth and final match of the series, where Jaiswal hit a fantastic century in the third innings against a solid English attack. Jaiswal's knock helped the visitors post a mammoth 374-run target for the hosts with almost two days left.

“I was impressed with Yashasvi's mindset. He's a fearless batter, and he knows when to accelerate, when to see through a phase, and when to go to the non-striker's end. He scored a hundred on a difficult track in the first Test where the ball moved around a bit, not as much and not for as long as we expected, but he played an important role there,” Sachin told via Reddit.

Sachin, fondly called as the God of Cricket, also commended the young opening batter for stepping up to take charge in guiding Akash Deep (in India's second innings of the final Test where he ended up scoring 66 off 94) while the two were involved in a century stand for the third wicket under an extremely precarious situation.

“In the last Test, he scored a magnificent hundred on a difficult track. Before that, the tracks weren't as challenging, but the last one was a difficult one to bat on. He showed a lot of character, maturity and determination. The way he was guiding Akash Deep. A batter's responsibility is not to score his own runs, it's also how you build partnerships. He played a role in how to motivate Akash Deep. All in all, a fantastic series for Yashasvi, a treat to watch,” he added.
