Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) is all set to open the state’s first international cricket stadium at Narsingh in West Tripura district. The inaugural of the stadium will happen with either an ODI game or an IPL (Indian Premier League) match in February 2025.

The venue is being built at a cost of INR 200 crore in a joint collaboration with the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and the TCA. It is also worth noting that the stadium will have a seating capacity of 25,000 spectators.

The secretary of the TCA, Subrata Dey, recently came forward and stated that the venue should be ready to host big-money matches by February of next year, and highlighted that the board has already earmarked the roadmap for the project.

"This is our mission to complete the project of the international stadium as early as possible. As per the revised deadline, by January 2025 or mid-February, we will have the stadium ready for hosting high-profile cricket matches. We have already adopted a roadmap for this project, and the agency and the designer company engaged in the project have been directed to expedite the works," Dey was quoted as saying by the New Indian Express.

Dey also revealed that the construction for the stadium began in 2017, and was originally supposed to be completed within a timeframe of 22 months, but due to the pace of the agencies at work, it has taken several years for the project to near completion.

"The project's work was started in the year 2017. Initially, it was supposed to get completed within the stipulated time frame of 22 months. However, due to the slow pace of work from the end of the agencies working here, the project was delayed. However, in order to fast-track the ongoing construction works, we have started holding weekly reviews," Dey added.

With the project almost completed, it is likely that some high-profile international matches could be hosted in the stadium in 2025, with the IPL making an appearance as well.
