Twitter Reactions: 'Indian cricket is in a safe and happy place' - Cricket fraternity reacts to J&K's maiden Ranji Trophy title win
Jammu & Kashmir defeated Karnataka in the finals of the Ranji Trophy to lift their maiden title.
Jammu & Kashmir registered their name in domestic cricket history on February 28, clinching their maiden Ranji Trophy title after dominating Karnataka in the 2025-26 final at Hubli. It was a triumph built on complete dominance across five days, as J&K secured the championship based on a massive first-innings lead.
After opting to bat, J&K hammered 584 in their first innings. Centuries from Shubham Pundir (121) and contributions from the middle order helped them reach a notable score. In reply, Karnataka were bowled out for 293 despite a 160 from Mayank Agarwal. The architect of J&K’s dominance with the ball was Auqib Nabi, who claimed a five-wicket haul and finished the season with a record 60 wickets.

Armed with a 291-run lead, J&K ensured there was no way back for Karnataka. In the second innings, Qamran Iqbal (160*) and Sahil Lotra (101*) batted Karnataka out of the contest, extending the lead beyond 600 and draining any remaining hope. By the time the captains shook hands on Day 5, the result was a mere formality as J&K were crowned champions of the 91st Ranji Trophy.
Led by veteran Paras Dogra, who finally lifted his maiden title after a long domestic career, Jammu & Kashmir’s campaign to the trophy included memorable wins over Mumbai, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Bengal. As celebrations erupted, the cricket fraternity poured in congratulatory messages, hailing J&K’s historic achievement.
