Skipper Rishabh Pant brought up a fantastic half-century for Lucknow Super Giants during Match 70 of the ongoing IPL 2025 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. This was just the second big score from Pant's bat this season. There were immense expectations from him after the southpaw was acquired for a whopping INR 27 crore in the mega auction.

However, the LSG skipper did not live up to the heightened expectations from him. In the 13 innings prior to the game against RCB, he had scored only 151 runs at a miserly strike rate of just 107.9. Coming in to bat in the third over, Pant started off with a bang by dismissing Yash Dayal for 19 runs in an over (the innings' fourth).

Consecutive fours off Suyash Sharma brought up his second fifty and the team hundred for LSG. By that time, he had already struck five fours and three maximums.

Replacing Matthew Breetzke (14 off 12) in the middle, he paired up with Mitchell Marsh (67 off 37) to forge together an electrifying 152-run stand for the second wicket off just 78 balls. Pant was the aggressor between the two batters, and further went on to bring up a sensational century in the final match of the season for the Haridwar-born.

This was Pant's second ton in his IPL career. The milestone came off just 54 deliveries. He celebrated the stunning milestone with a unique somersault celebration and looked really pleased at getting to this feat. At the time of writing, the hosts are all set to set RCB a steep target of 228 after ending at 227 for 3 at the end of the innings. For the unversed, RCB will have to face Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator if they do not manage the cross the line against the hosts tonight.

Meanwhile, as the IPL with the bat is done for Pant his focus will now move to the England tour. He will also act as the vice-captain of the Test side, which is entering a transition phase. He will be the second-in-command to Shubman Gill for the upcoming five-match Test series against England. This knock will understandably prove to be a major confidence-booster for the aggressive 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batter ahead of the tour to the UK.
