UAE T20I Tri-Series 2025: Teams to observe moment of silence for Afghanistan earthquake victims
The tragic earthquake in Afghanistan has killed hundreds and injured thousands as of now.
The third match of the UAE T20I Tri-Series 2025 between the United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan will be met with a one-minute silence ahead of the commencement of the contest. The tragic earthquake in Afghanistan has killed hundreds and injured thousands as of now, and as a tribute to those affected by the horrific incident, both the boards have decided to observe a moment of silence.
The magnitude 6 earthquake has caused a lot of damage in eastern parts of Afghanistan. The public health ministry has come out and announced that several villages in the Kunar province has been 'completely destroyed'.
Countless people have been trapped under the rubble and are being transported by military helicopters to hospitals near the region. The earthquake is reported to be shallow (taking place close to the Earth’s surface) which is known to cause greater destruction than usual.
Coming to the tri-series, both UAE and Afghanistan have played one game apiece against Pakistan. The Men in Green emerged victorious by 31 and 39 runs, respectively. Salman Ali Agha (53* off 36) and Saim Ayub (69 off 38 and 1/6) emerged with the Player of the Match accolades against Afghanistan and UAE, respectively.
