India pacer Umesh Yadav's father Tilak Yadav has breathed his last in his hometown Khaparkheda, a village in Nagpur District, Maharashtra, on February 22, leaving the cricketer orphaned. The deceased father was 74.

According to reports, Tilak Yadav was suffering from a prolonged illness. He had been undergoing treatment for the past several months at a private hospital. But his condition started worsening, per family sources, and he was brought back home where he remained confined to bed, and eventually passed away.

Tilak Yadav was fond of wrestling

As reported by Sports Tak, the senior Yadav was fond of wrestling. Interestingly, he was a famous professional wrestler himself. He had come to Nagpur as a child in search of a job from Pokharbhinda village in Padrauna District of Uttar Pradesh. He used to work in the Western Coal Fields and because of his job, he resided with his family in the Valni mine located in Khaparkheda.

Tilak Yadav leaves behind his three sons: Kamlesh, cricketer Umesh, and Ramesh, and a lone daughter. His last rites were performed near the Kolar River Ghat in Nagpur District, Maharashtra.

Umesh Yadav is a part of the India squad featuring in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, against Australia. After the conclusion of the second Test, which India won by six wickets in Delhi, a nine-day break has been provided to all the players. The break has allowed Indian players a much-needed respite and an opportunity to spend some quality time with their families.

Umesh is expected to return to national duties for the third Test scheduled to commence from March 1, 2023, after completing all the necessary rituals. The Indian squad for the remainder Test series is awaited.

The pace bowler, however, is yet to make an appearance in the four-match Test series, as both the Tests have seen the spinners from both the sides dominate the proceedings in comparison to their fast-bowling counterparts. However, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami were picked ahead of Umesh Yadav for both the Tests, and are most likely to retain their spots for the third Test as well.
