Chairperson of the International Cricket Council, Jay Shah, recently expressed his views on the venue for cricket being announced.
"We welcome the announcement of the venue for cricket at Los Angeles 2028 as it is a significant step towards the preparation for our sport's return to the Olympics. Although cricket is a hugely popular sport, it will be a fantastic opportunity to expand traditional boundaries when it features in the Olympics in the fast-paced, exciting T20 format that should appeal to new audiences," stated Shah, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Cricket is slated to join five new sports at LA28. The four others are baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse (sixes), and squash. Moreover, cricket is set to retained for the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane with the final of the event to be held at the icoonic Gabba before the venue is brought down.
