Virat Kohli invests in World Bowling League, joins as Strategic Investor
Virat Kohli is in the list of the top 5 highest run-getters in the IPL 2025.
Virat Kohli joined the World Bowling League (WBL) as a Strategic Investor and expanded his sporting empire further. Amidst the qualification of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1 in the IPL 2025, the move has come, which could help the growth of Bowling in India and the rest of the globe. Bowling, as a sport, could get better exposure than it is currently getting.
Virat, with his massive following and influence in world sports, can make a difference. After becoming the Strategic Investor in the WBL, Kohli claimed that he started bowling at the age of 11 and learnt to spin the ball at 12 years. The RCB player claimed that Bowling is underappreciated as a business prospect despite being popular.
"I started bowling when I was 11 years old, spinning the ball by 12. It is evident how popular the sport is while being underappreciated as a business proposition," Kohli said. Adi K. Mishra, the Founder and CEO of the league, was present at the event and believed that the time had come to capture the market for Bowling.
Bowling is a sleeping giant: WBL Founder and CEO
Adi K. Mishra claimed that Bowling at the elite level involves stuff like topographies, 3-D printed oil patterns, and other challenges. The WBL CEO added that it was great for him to know that Virat was also a former Bowler.
Mishra claimed that it was easy for him to align with the star cricketer due to his new-age vision and relentless drive for the sport. He regarded bowling to be a sleeping giant and added that the sport has a fascinating history and global depth.
“Elite-level bowling is a world of intricate challenges—from lanes with unique topographies and thousands of 3D-printed oil patterns to balls that react differently with every roll. When I discovered Virat is also a bowler, it was exciting to align with this new-age vision for the sport. Virat’s relentless drive for sports mirrors our own. Every week, we uncover more about bowling’s global depth and fascinating history – it’s a sleeping giant we’re ready to awaken,” Mishra said.
