Virat Kohli recently gave the cricket fraternity a massive shock when he announced his retirement from Test Cricket, just weeks before clinching his maiden IPL title with RCB. He stepped away from the red-ball format just days before the announcement of the squad for the Test Series versus England. Kohli had also announced his retirement from T20Is after winning the T20 World Cup title for the first time in his career last year.

He will now only play for India in ODIs, and might next be seen in action in October in the much-anticipated ODI series versus Australia. However, after retiring from the longest and shortest formats of the game, and more than four months after his appearance for the national team (Champions Trophy 2025 final), Kohli has amassed yet another record.

Kohli's previous highest T20I rating points in the ICC Rankings were 897. However, on Wednesday, July 16, it was changed to 909. His highest rating points in Tests for 937, and it is 911 in ODIs. He is now the first player in the history of the sport to breach 900 rating points in the ICC rankings of all three formats of the game.

After the amendment in the ranking points of Kohli, the Delhi batter becomes the second player from India after current T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav to breach 900 rating points in the ICC batting rankings in the shortest format.

Here are the players with the highest rankings in ICC T20I Batting Rankings History:

  •  919 - Dawid Malan
  •  912 - Suryakumar Yadav
  • 909 - Virat Kohli
  • 904 - Aaron Finch
  • 900 - Babar Azam
  • 894 - David Warner

When will Virat Kohli be seen in an Indian jersey next?

Kohli has not played for India since the Champions Trophy final on March 9. Fans are waiting with bated breath to watch the 36-year-old in action for the Men in Blue. He might return to international cricket next month.
