Australian left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc etched his name in record books as he became the most expensive player ever in the history of IPL auction during the IPL 2024 auction on Tuesday, December 19. The tall left-arm seamer was sold for a whopping 24.75 Crore to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as he’s about to make a return to the cash-rich league after eight years.

Following the historic bid for Starc, a video of his spouse and Australia women’s captain Alyssa Healy went viral where she could be seen drinking in celebration. However, it was later found out that it was an old video and had no relation to Starc’s record sale.

Recently, Healy also clarified the same and stated that she was in the gym preparing for the upcoming multi-format series against India and 'wasn’t thinking of beers'.

“I was in the gym. Was not thinking of beers, according to social media. I was actually in the gym working hard, watching it all unfold. But yeah, an amazing day for him and Pat (Cummins),” Healy was quoted as saying by The Cricket Lounge.

Starc has played just two editions of the IPL in 2014 and 2015 respectively for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Sydney-born cricketer represented the franchise in 27 matches in his IPL career and picked 34 wickets at an average of 20.38 and an economy of 7.17. Notably, he was also bought by KKR during IPL 2018 auction for INR 9.4 Crore. However, he had to pull out of the tournament due to a leg injury.
