Before the start of the second ODI between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, legendary wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist was seen sharing a selfie with former captain Rohit Sharma, reviving memories of their time together at the now-defunct Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The interaction went viral, with fans celebrating the bond between two players who once shared a dressing room more than a decade ago.

Rohit and Gilchrist played together for the Deccan Chargers between 2008 and 2010. Under Gilchrist’s captaincy, the Hyderabad-based franchise famously won the 2009 IPL title. The Australian later moved to Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), where he played until his IPL retirement in 2013, while Rohit joined the Mumbai Indians, leading them to five IPL titles. Ahead of the toss, the two were seen having a chat and taking a selfie. The former Australian cricketer posted the selfie video on his Instagram story, captioning it, "Go Chargers Go".

"I've got to say, he's looking and sounding very relaxed. He was reminding me it was in this very venue where we first met back in 2008, just after the IPL auction had taken place, and we worked out we were going to be teammates. It was the old bull and the young bull. I was on my way out of international cricket and he was coming in, but he's keen to get out here," Gilchrist said about the interaction.

Coming to the match, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and chose to bowl first. The hosts made three changes to their playing XI, bringing in Alex Carey, Adam Zampa, and Xavier Bartlett as they looked to seal the ODI series after winning the first match in Perth.

On the other hand, India went with an unchanged lineup, showing faith in the same XI that suffered a seven-wicket loss in the series opener in Perth. However, India’s innings got off to a poor start. After surviving a few overs from Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, India lost two quick wickets within the first eight overs. Captain Shubman Gill (9) and veteran Virat Kohli (0) both fell to pacer Xavier Bartlett, placing India's scorecard at 22/2 after eight overs. Rohit, who returned to the ODI setup after a seven-month break, was trying to steady the innings alongside Shreyas Iyer.

Australia (Playing XI): Mitchell Marsh(c), Travis Head, Matthew Short, Matt Renshaw, Alex Carey(w), Cooper Connolly, Mitchell Owen, Xavier Bartlett, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill(c), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, KL Rahul(w), Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj
