[WATCH] AUS vs IND 2025: Virat Kohli celebrates after scoring first run in 3rd ODI
Kohli had departed without troubling the scorers in the first two matches of the 50-over series in Perth and Adelaide.
Ace Indian cricketer Virat Kohli raised his fist in elation and had a gleaming smile on his face after getting off the mark in the third ODI of the three-match series between Australia and India at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, October 25. Kohli had departed without troubling the scorers in the first two matches of the 50-over series in Perth and Adelaide.
The eagerly-anticipated run for Kohli came on the first ball he faced, after skipper Shubman Gill made his way back in India's chase of 237. Kohli got forward to a full-length ball from Josh Hazlewood to clip it towards mid-wicket. The quick single elicited a thunderous response from the jam-packed crowd at the SCG. It seemed as if the ace batter had attained a big milestone by the type of cheering from the crowd.

Why did Virat Kohli celebrate?
Kohli bagged an eight-ball duck which was followed by another one in the first two matches which the Men in Blue ended up losing by seven and two wickets, respectively. The lbw by Xavier Bartlett in the second clash marked the first time that the 36-year-old registered ducks in successive ODI innings in his career of 17 years. As a result, getting a run in the series came as a light-hearted moment for the New Delhi-born.
Kohli and Rohit Sharma, having retired from T20I and Test cricket already, only have the ODI format to play now. The next time the cricket fraternity can expect them to feature in international cricket is in the three ODIs against South Africa across November and December. The Proteas will be visiting India for a multi-format series.
