Shreyas Iyer opened up on Punjab Kings' (PBKS) mindset after qualifying for the IPL 2025 Playoffs for the first time since the 2014 season by beating Mumbai Indians (MI) in their last league stage match in Jaipur to top the points table. PBKS will face an equally strong RCB in Qualifier 1 in Mullanpur in Chandigarh and will eye to enter their first IPL final in 11 years.

Following their massive win against MI, PBKS posted a video on social media, where they interviewed the skipper about playing the Playoffs. Iyer was excited and claimed it to be a great achievement for the players and the franchise. He added that their mindset was to win, and they were not thinking about the playoffs. He said that the focus was entirely on winning the title right from the first day.

"Excited, to be honest. It’s a great achievement for the franchise and also for all the players. Their hard work has paid off. Right from Day 1, our mindset was to go out and win. We weren’t thinking about the playoffs; we were thinking about winning the championship, and that is our mindset," said Iyer in the viral video posted by PBKs on their official 'X' handle.

PBKS and RCB will clash in IPL 2025 Qualifier 1

Punjab Kings will have a challenging faceoff in their upcoming match at home, as RCB have been equally impressive in the ongoing season so far. It could well be one of the matches of the season, considering the star players present on both sides.

While PBKS' performances have revolved mostly around their batting, with good bowling performance from Arshdeep and others in some matches, RCB have performed better as a unit, with different players stepping up to win matches for their side.

PBKS has the home advantage, although their record is not as good in Mullanpur. RCB have not lost a game away from home in the IPL 2025 and can beat any team on a given day. Iyer will be key both as a batter and as a skipper, as PBKS has been a strong unit under his leadership.
