Azmatullah Omarzai was rewarded for some excellent bowling as he dismissed the dangerous Virat Kohli in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3.

After being invited to bat first, Kohli dropped anchor following Phil Salt's dismissal in the second over. Mayank Agarwal got off to a quick start but departed right after the powerplay. Kohli hit three boundaries in his innings, looking to bat deep. The PBKS bowlers planned well against the veteran batter, not giving him too many deliveries in his arc.

Most of the balls were pitched on a length by the PBKS speedsters, and they took pace off them to make Kohli use all his power to hit to the leg-side. Omarzai, who bowled two quiet overs upfront, was asked to bowl the 15th over by Shreyas Iyer. The Afghanistan all-rounder conceded just six runs off the first four balls, and Kohli felt the need to up the ante, as Liam Livingstone wasn't looking at his best at the other end. However, the former India captain tried to take on a well-directed short ball from in front of his right shoulder.

The 36-year-old only managed a top-edge which ballooned towards short mid-wicket, and Omarzai had to make a good few yards to his right before putting in a full-stretch dive to take a fantastic catch. He didn't let the ball pop out of his hands after his elbows hit the ground. As a result, Virat Kohli's innings ended for a score of 43 off 35 balls.

RCB will need a big finish at the backend of the innings as the surface looks very good for batting, and PBKS are coming into the contest after comfortably chasing down a 204-run target against Mumbai Indians with ease at this same venue in Qualifier 2.
