All-rounder Kyle Mayers quickly went viral after he displayed a stunning display of athleticism after he took a masterful catch during a clash of the ongoing CPL (Caribbean Premier League) 2024. In a game between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St. Lucia Kings, Mayers took the brilliant catch. 

During the second ball of the fifth over of the second innings, Kings’ skipper Faf du Plessis attempted to hit Anrich Nortje’s delivery over mid-wicket. However, the ball went into mid-on. 

Seeing the ball, Kyle Mayers ran backwards and managed to take a sensational catch, dismissing Faf du Plessis for just two runs. The clip of the same has been going viral all over social media.

St. Lucia Kings register dominant victory

Speaking of the game, the clash between the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and the St. Lucia Kings began with the Patriots coming into bat first. The side opened their innings with Evin Lewis scoring 100* runs in 54 deliveries in a performance that stood out. 

Andre Fletcher was dismissed for one run, with Kyle Mayers scoring 92 runs in 62 balls. In the first innings, the Patriots posted a total of 201 runs and lost just three wickets in the process. As for Lucia Kings, David Wiese was the only wicket taker with two wickets to his name. 

Coming in to chase the target, the side got off to a subpar start as openers Johnson Charles and Faf du Plessis scored 12 and 2 runs, respectively. Ackeem Auguste added six runs onto the board. 

Furthermore, Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 68* runs with Tim Seifert scoring 64 runs. David Wiese added 34* runs on the board as St. Lucia Kings chased the target and won the game by five wickets.
