[Watch] Old video of Shubman Gill playing with tennis ball resurfaces
Shubman Gill is currently leading the Indian Test team in the England series.
In the middle of a five-match Test series against England, an old video of India's Test captain Shubman Gill is resurfacing. The clip shows the right-handed batter in casual attire, enjoying a session of tennis ball cricket on a local ground.
The 25-year-old, in his natural flair, was seen smashing a massive six on a full toss delivery, leaving the bowler stunned and distressed. However, the video doesn't have much footage of Gill's batting, and mostly standing at the non-striker's end.

Shubman Gill on course to break numerous records
Gill was handed the Test captaincy following the respective retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In his debut series as captain, Gill has already scored 585 runs in just two Tests of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. His heroics are drawing comparisons with legends like Don Bradman, Sunil Gavaskar, and Virat Kohli.
In the recent Birmingham Test, where he scored 269 in the first innings and followed it up with a 161 in the second, helping the visitors level the five-match series 1-1. His total of 430 runs broke multiple records, including him surpassing Kohli’s record for most runs by an Indian captain in a Test and Gavaskar’s highest aggregate by an Indian in a Test.
The youngster's form has triggered conversations around the possibility of breaking some of Sir Don Bradman’s most iconic records. He is now only 225 runs short of Bradman’s 810, the most runs scored by a captain in a Test series (1936-37 Ashes). He’s also chasing Bradman’s record of 974 runs in a single series. Notably, Bradman achieved both these records in his first series as captain, something Gill can do as well. He has already become the first batter in the history of Test cricket to score a double century and a 150-plus score in the same match.
Gill is also chasing more feats, including being just 18 runs away from surpassing Rahul Dravid’s 602, the most runs by an Indian batter in a series in England. He needs 91 runs to overtake Virat Kohli’s 655-run mark as Indian captain against England and is only 127 runs behind Yashasvi Jaiswal’s India-England series tally of 712. With three Tests still to go, the Indian captain can make this one of his most memorable series.
