Sri Lanka's cricketers were offered a VVIP security on Thursday, November 13, while travelling from the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to their hotel. The Lankans are currently touring Pakistan for a three-match ODI series.

A fleet of army-grade police vehicles surrounded the team bus which carried the Sri Lankan players from the venue to the team hotel on November 13, after the match was postponed to November 14 following discussions between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi and the touring players.

For the uninitiated, a bomb blast rocked Islamabad on November 11, the day Pakistan and Sri Lanka played the series-opening clash. Several cricketers from Sri Lanka expressed concerns and wanted to return to Sri Lanka owing to security issues. However, a meeting with Naqvi, followed by a directive from Sri Lanka Cricket, ensured that the players stayed put.

The second and third ODIs, which were originally scheduled to be played on November 13 and November 15, will be played on November 14 and November 16. Speaking of the series so far, Pakistan won the series-opening clash by six runs. Salman Ali Agha won the Player of the Match award for his unbeaten 87-ball 105-run knock in the first innings.
