WATCH: Rohit Sharma trains at BKC Ground in Mumbai ahead of South Africa ODI series
With Rohit now solely playing in ODIs, his limited appearances have made every training glimpse grab attention.
India’s batting stalwart Rohit Sharma kicked off his training for the upcoming home series against South Africa. The three-match ODI series, beginning November 30 in Ranchi, is India’s next international assignment following their Australia tour. With Rohit now solely playing in ODIs, his limited appearances have made every training glimpse grab attention.
Having led India to a Champions Trophy victory earlier this year, Rohit continues to fine-tune his game as he eyes longevity in the format until the 2027 ODI World Cup. He last featured in the ODI series against Australia, where he scored 202 runs in three innings, including a memorable century at the Sydney Cricket Ground, and was awarded the Player of the Series Award. With the South Africa series around the corner, the 37-year-old has returned to his home turf to stay in match fitness.
Rohit was seen at the BKC Ground, where Mumbai is currently playing their Ranji Trophy match against Himachal Pradesh, and engaged in light drills and conditioning exercises. He spent around 30 minutes doing sprints and some warm-up routines, but did not bat in the nets. Sources present at the ground noted that Rohit interacted with several Mumbai players.

Players have to take some responsibility: Steve Waugh
The former India skipper was also spotted chatting with his old Mumbai teammates, including bowling coach Dhawal Kulkarni and Atul Ranade. Kulkarni oversaw the reserve bowlers’ net session while Rohit observed from the sidelines.
While fans gathered at the venue to catch a glimpse of the star batter, Rohit kept his session short. Rohit last represented Mumbai in domestic cricket earlier this year at this very venue, in a Ranji Trophy fixture against Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, former Australian skipper Steve Waugh stated that players like Rohit and Virat Kohli need to take some responsibility and realise that the game is bigger than an individual. He also requested them to be wary of their future, even though they looked good in the recent Australia tour.
“The players have to take some responsibility and realise that the game is bigger than the individual. You can’t put yourself above the game. You’ve got to realise that the game moves on and someone else will take your place," Waugh said while speaking to Vimal Kumar.
