Shreyas Iyer led Sobo Mumbai Falcons to the finals of the Mumbai T20 League 2025.
Shreyas Iyer signed a fan's poster which had the caption 'Sarpanch Saab' on it. The star player was in his car and driving when a section of fans approached him out of nowhere. Iyer obliged, stopped his car, and signed the poster to make the fan’s day. He later drove off as he was cheered by the fans who were there to see him.
The star player has had a great time over the past year, a period in which he has achieved a lot, especially as a skipper. After being dropped from the BCCI's Central Contracts, Iyer went on to win the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders and followed it up by winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Ranji Trophy, and Irani Trophy in the 2024/25 season.
In the IPL Auctions 2025, Shreyas was sold for a whopping INR 26.75 crores, the second highest for a player. He had a brilliant season with Punjab Kings in the 18th edition of the biggest cricket league, where he led them to their first final since 2014 and scored over 600 runs at a strike rate of over 170.

Additionally, the star batter played a key role in the middle order for India in the Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. Iyer's performance and comeback were noticed by the viewers, which led to him gaining a lot of fans in the recent past.
Iyer, who ensured that the Kings had one of the best seasons for the franchise, was termed 'Sarpanch Saab' by the fans organically, which means 'Leader' in a respectful way. The same term was used in the fan's poster, which was spotted in the video that has gone viral on social media.
Iyer is a part of the Mumbai T20 League, where he has been leading the Sobo Mumbai Falcons, who have had a great run in the season so far, as they have made it to the finals. It is Iyer's second consecutive appearance in a T20 final.
