[WATCH] Women's World Cup 2025: Australia squad panics as rat appears during dinner in team hotel
Australia Women have won five of the six games they played in the marquee tournament.
Australia Women cricketers experienced a moment of panic when a rat appeared in the hotel dining area during their stay in India for the Women’s World Cup 2025. The incident took place at the hotel in Visakhapatnam while the players had just finished having their dinner a day ahead of their game.
According to reports, the team members were taken by surprise when they suddenly noticed a rat near their table. The unexpected sight caused immediate chaos, with some players screaming and jumping onto chairs to avoid the rodent. Hotel staff rushed to the scene to catch the rat, but it continued to scurry around, adding to the commotion and startling the players further.
Cricket Australia later shared a lighthearted video in which the players recounted the incident. They mentioned that they had just finished their meal and were about to leave when the rat suddenly appeared. While the team laughed it off in the video, the episode has raised concerns about the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the hotel hosting the Australian team during the tournament.
On the cricketing front, the Australians have already qualified for the knockout stage of the World Cup. They currently top the points table, having won five of their six games, with one match ending as a no-result. Their last group-stage match is scheduled against South Africa Women on October 25 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.
Other teams, including England, New Zealand, and India Women, have also secured their places in the knockout rounds. The exact fixtures of the semi-finals will be determined once the group stage concludes on Sunday, October 26 with the game between India and Bangladesh.
The first semi-final is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, in Guwahati, followed by the second semi-final on Thursday, October 30, in Navi Mumbai. The final is set to take place on Sunday, November 2, again in Navi Mumbai. Despite the hotel scare, Australia remain focused on their campaign as they aim to continue their dominant form in the tournament.
